Description of Forever Spring:
Spring has arrived! The melancholy of winter has passed. The sun and earth have danced into their perfect partnership with one another slicing day and night into the equal portion we call equinox. Cool nights, warm days and the promise of new growth throughout Nature beckons us out doors. The dogwood blooms are among the first harbingers of the new season. All around us is rebirth, and it seems all of life is becoming renewed. Flowers are in blossom. Trees show their flowers. Song birds are seeking new partnerships and nesting sites to raise their nestlings. This is "Forever Spring"!
I have used a chip carving technique that highlights the surface painted blossoms and leaves as opposed to my often used technique of relief carving. The cedar wood stick has been lightly sealed with marine spar varnish. Dogwood flowers and leaves have been outlined with my own ebonizing formulation of iron rust, red wine, and vinegar. The paint is acrylic that has been encapsulated under a tough clear coat of two-part epoxy sealer providing a durable scratch resistant protective non-yellowing final finish.
The style of this carving may be identified with American primitive arts & craft. It is handmade and a unique one of a kind rendering of the American southern highlands craft. I carve other pieces with the same or similar name; however, the buyer will receive a document of authentication specifically identifying this piece uniquely by size, type of wood, and date of completion/purchase.
I have crafted designs for each of the four seasons. These pieces make excellent indoor decorative accent pieces when collected as the seasons change. Although this has been designed to be a functional walking stick, it is not a medical device, nor is it recommended to be used as such. Thank you for visiting my shop.
