- Description of Melancholy of Hearts Remembered:
Examine the photos and you may be able to find "a breaking heart", "a broken heart", "a heart that is torn to pieces", etc. as mentioned in the poem I wrote that sheds just a small candle light on the wonderful mission of the lovely and devoted servants - Sisters of Mercy - in my hometown.
The piece pictured is no longer available; however, if you like this concept, I can produce a similar one. It will require a 30 day production time plus shipping of 3 to 5 business days. Roof logo may be optional if you desire. Contact me for instructions.
This is a functional birdhouse built on my basic "A" frame 5 x 6 reclaimed pine lumber frame and covered with pine cone parts glued, stapled, and/or tacked into place. Natural vine and wisteria seed pods adorn the facade. The base stand is oak as pictured and may vary substantially when remodeled into a new piece. I cannot make two pieces just alike. However, any reproduction will bare the theme and spirit of the original dedicated piece. A brass plaque and document of authentication accompanies the piece when shipped.
Melancholy of Hearts Remembered
A breaking heart
A broken heart
A heart that's all in pieces.
A shattered heart that left the Vine
And all the Maker teaches.
A somber sense of solitude with stealth invades my heart
As melancholy feels my mind of lives so torn apart.
And then I am distracted by the cherubs in our town
Who through the mercy of God's heart, a fuller life they've found!
A happy heart
A joyful heart
A mending of the pieces.
A shattered heart back on the Vine
Where now the Maker teaches.

(Close up examination of the 4th photo reveals "the heart that's all in pieces. The next to last photo in the series above reveals "the broken heart" mentioned in the poem. "The heart that left the vine" may be seen by viewing the second photo in the series which is the back of the birdhouse. Hearts are arranged in groups of three's and sevens, biblical numbers meaningful to the Christian faith.)
